राजीव गांधी खेल रत्न पुरस्कार का एलान कर दिया गया है। इस साल यह पुरस्कार पीवी सिंधू, साक्षी मलिक, दीपा कर्माकर और जीतू राय को दिया जाएगा। जीतू राय और दीपा कर्माकर के नाम का एलान पहले ही कर दिया गया था। साक्षी और सिंधू का नाम अब शामिल किया गया है। खेल मंत्रालय की ओर से कहा गया था कि रियो ओलंपिक्स में जो भी पदक जीतेगा उसे खेल रत्न के लिए चुना जाएगा। साक्षी मलिक ने रियो में कांस्य पदक जीता था। वहीं सिंधू ने बैडमिंटन में महिला एकल का रजत पदक जीता था। रियो ओलंपिक्स में भारत को ये दो ही पदक मिले थे। ऐसा पहली बार है जब चार खिलाडि़यों को खेल रत्न दिया जाएगा। इससे पहले साल 2009 में तीन खिलाडि़यों को खेल रत्न चुना गया था। यह पुरस्कार 29 अगस्त को दिए जाएंगे
दीपा कर्माकर मामूली अंतर से कांस्य पदक से जीतने से रह गई थी। रियो में जिम्नास्ट में शामिल होने वाली वह इकलौती भारतीय थीं। वहीं जीतू राय ने पिछले साल शानदार प्रदर्शन किया था। उन्होंने कॉमनवेल्थ और एशियाई खेलों में शूटिंग में पदक जीते थे। हालांकि रियो में उनका प्रदर्शन आशाओं के अनुसार नहीं रहा। वे फाइनल के लिए भी क्वालिफाई नहीं कर पाए थे। अब तक 28 खिलाडि़यों को खेल रत्न से नवाजा जा चुका है। सबसे पहले यह पुरस्कार विश्वनाथन आनंद को दिया गया था। पिछले साल सानिया मिर्जा को इससे सम्मानित किया गया था। साल 2008 और 2009 में किसी भी खिलाड़ी को यह पुरस्कार नहीं मिला।
भारत की सानिया मिर्ज़ा भले ही रियो में कोई पदक नहीं जीत सकीं, लेकिन उन्होंने अपनी नई जोड़ीदार चेक गणराज्य की बारबोरा स्त्राईकोवा के साथ मिलकर सिनसिनाटी टेनिस टूर्नामेंट में महिला युगल वर्ग का फाइनल जीत लिया है.
फाइनल में उन्होंने स्विटजरलैंड की मार्टिना हिंगिस और अमरीका की कोको वांडेवेगे को 7-5, 6-4 से मात दी.
सानिया और हिंगिस ने पिछले दिनों अलग अलग साथी के साथ खेलने का फैसला किया था
पिछले दिनों सानिया और हिंगिस की जोड़ी ने कमाल का खेल दिखाते हुए महिला युगल वर्ग के नंबर एक स्थान पर जगह बनाई थी.
The government of India on Saturday appointed Urjit Patel (52) as the next Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He is a PhD (economics) from Yale University (1990) and MPhil from Oxford (1986). He has been a non-resident Senior Fellow, The Brookings Institution since 2009.
He is going to replace the current governor Raghuram Rajan. He will take over from Rajan on 4th September 2016.
He is currently one of the four Deputy governors at the RBI. First appointed on 11 January 2013 as a deputy governor to replace Subir Gokarn, he was reappointed in January 2016 for another three years. Before his appointment as Deputy Governor of RBI in 2013, he was an advisor on energy and infrastructure at The Boston Consulting Group.
He has run the central bank's monetary policy department since 2013 and has worked closely with the Raghuram Rajan during his stint at the central bank.
